Our normal activities include:
Holiday Faire in December – The Club co-sponsors the Holiday Faire with the City of Novato. It is held the first Friday and Saturday in December at the Margaret Todd Senior Center. Members attend workshops during the week before the Faire to hand make wreaths, swags and centerpieces using fresh greens provided by the City of Novato Landscape Maintenance Department. The proceeds from this event are used for the Club’s General Fund.
Holiday Celebration – The Holiday season is celebrated at our December meeting with different activities, a cookie exchange, or a hands on workshop.
Valentine’s Celebration – This celebration is a gala affair held at our February meeting. The Club invites employees of the City Corporate Yard, and all past NGC presidents. Members may invite guests for a nominal fee. Tickets are sold at the event for a drawing of a large themed gift basket.
May Mart/Spring Bloom – Traditionally, the May Mart sale was held the second Saturday in May. Depending on weather the dates change. Members are encouraged to propagate 10 one gallon sized plants from cuttings, rooting’s and seedlings. Members that do not provide plants for the sale are required to pay an “in lieu of plants” fee. The proceeds from the sale are divided between the Club’s General Fund and the City Beautification Fund.
June Picnic – This is a fun event held to honor our Active Members that have worked throughout the year on the many projects that keep the Club running. The Club may provide a picnic lunch and charge a nominal fee. Activities at this event include a photo contest, silent auction and games.
Redwood Boulevard Planters – Members volunteer to plant and maintain the groupings of cement planters on the 4 corners of Redwood Blvd., and Grant Ave., and Redwood Blvd., and Vallejo St. The planters at Chianti do not have water at this time. The City of Novato provides the water to the planters. Maintenance of the planters is paid by the Club’s City Beautification Fund.
Pioneer Park – The Club is in the process of rehabilitating the small area at Pioneer Park. With the help of the City of Novato Landscape Maintenance Department, look for improvements in the future.
